Looking to offer a unique, thoughtful gift option in your store? Adding gift stays or gift certificates is a fantastic way to delight guests and grow your business. Whether it’s for a cozy weekend getaway or a special treat for someone else, gift stays make a memorable addition to your offerings. Here’s a simple guide to get started!
Step 1: Create the Product in Your Store
In your Host Co store, go to Add Product to set up a new item. For gift stays or certificates, choose the Add-Ons category, as it allows for easy customization.
Give your product a name that’s descriptive and inviting, like Gift Stay at Snowy Cabin – Two Nights. Be sure to specify the details such as the length of stay (e.g., two nights) and price.
Step 2: Write a Clear and Detailed Description
Transparency is key to ensuring a smooth experience for both you and your guests. In the product description, include important details like:
Length of Stay: Two nights, four nights, etc.
Booking Requirements: Weeknights only, weekends only, etc.
Advance Booking Rules: Must book six weeks in advance.
Restrictions: Direct bookings only—this is crucial to avoid violating terms of service on platforms like Airbnb or VRBO.
Step 3: Outline the Booking Process
Make it easy for guests to understand how to redeem the gift stay:
Include the booking link or contact method (e.g., Visit www.thesnowycabin.com to book or Email us with your receipt at info@thesnowycabin.com).
Optionally, provide a unique gift code (e.g., SNOWY23 or GIFT1999) to make redemption seamless.
Step 4: Add Expiration and Usage Terms
Specify any limitations or expiration dates:
Valid for three years from purchase date.
Expires on [specific date].
This ensures clarity for your customers and avoids future complications.
Step 5: Upload an Eye-Catching Image
A picture speaks a thousand words! Use a photo of your property or a designed gift certificate image to make the product visually appealing.
Step 6: Final Touches
Once all the details are in place:
Decide if you want to track inventory or allow unlimited sales.
Optionally, request additional details from the buyer, like the recipient's name, during checkout.
Save the product, and voilà—it’s ready to go live in your store!
Why Gift Stays Are a Win-Win
Gift stays are a creative way to maximize revenue, especially during slower seasons. Guests can treat their loved ones to an unforgettable experience, while you benefit from increased direct bookings.
Think about it: A couple who loved their snowy cabin stay might gift their parents a weekend there. Or, a teacher could receive a thoughtful two-night retreat as a token of appreciation.
Gift stays aren’t just products—they’re opportunities to build connections, create memories, and grow your business.
