How many times have you heard from your Airbnb guest that they needed to change the batteries or a lightbulb?

At some point, it’s happened to all of us. Lightbulbs, batteries, etc are natural things in life that just simply need to be replaced.

There are also some things you don’t necessarily want to give guests open access to, but it would be nice to have at your place. Think your personal hygiene products, or extras of more valuable items that you don’t want out in the open, but guests can access if they need or run out — and ask you for it.

That’s why we are sharing today that you should always have in an “owner’s closet” at your Airbnb. And if guests need it, you can give them access if necessary — think items you want protected unless asked for or things you may need while staying in your home.

Here are tips to make sure your owners closet is all set and ready to go:

EXTRA BATTERIES FOR THE REMOTE

Things happen. TV remotes or flashlights need batteries replaced. Good to have extras on hand just in case!

EXTRA LIGHTBULBS

These are one of the most common items that needs replacement. Whether it’s you, the cleaners or the guest who the bulb burns out on, it’s important to have them on hand.

YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS YOU’LL NEED WHEN YOU STAY, BUT YOU DON’T WANT IN THE OPEN

While it’s good to leave general shampoos and such for guests, there are several items that you can stock there when you go to visit, but you don’t necessarily want broadcasted in the middle of the listing. Whether it’s a thing of sunscreen, bedroom slippers, shampoo, or a pair of pajamas so you don’t have to pack every time you go to your Airbnb — good to have those things in the closet for YOU, but not in public.

PRINTER AND PRINTER CARTRIDGES

Imagine this: you get to your rental to update and renovate your Airbnb, and are preparing to print out a brand new owners manual… and you have no ink. This is something you will definitely not regret having around, just in case.

EXTRA COOKING SPICES AND OILS

Extra spices and oils are good to have on the property so that your cleaner can restock in-between stays if they run low, but things like this are best not stocked out in the open, in order to prevent over-crowding of cabinets or theft.

EXPENSIVE ITEMS THAT YOU’RE SELLING IN YOUR AIRBNB STORE

In your Host Co store, stocking cheaper items in a public store is recommended to “show off” to your guests. But what about more expensive items? We recommend stocking them in a locked closet and revealing the location of said items at the bottom of the digital receipt upon purchase. What’s a locked closet on the premises? How about that owner’s closet?
